Disaster Relief

The National Cattlemen’s Foundation, in cooperation with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA), is launching a disaster relief effort to assist farm and ranch families impacted by catastrophic flooding in North Dakota.

Family farm and ranch operations all across the state have been devastated by flooding caused by spring blizzards. Many families have been completely displaced from their homes, or remain without power, potable water, and other utilities.  Livestock losses are estimated to be nearing 100,000 head.  Spring planting has already been delayed, which could lead to a shorter growing season and decreased yields.  Downed fences and other property damage have also added to the battle with Mother Nature, as hundreds of farmers and ranchers struggle to make repairs while keeping their operations functional.

“One of the greatest needs in addition to feed and hay right now is fencing materials.  Disaster relief funds can be utilized to assist producers in securing posts and wire,” says Julie Ellingson, executive vice president of the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association, will manage distribution of all funds donated.

Online contributions can be made by clicking here.  NCBA is coordinating this effort in cooperation with the National Cattlemen’s Foundation (NCF) and state and local cattlemen’s associations. Monetary donations can be made to the National Cattlemen’s Foundation. These donations are tax deductible, and 100 percent of every contribution will directly assist families struggling to keep their farms and ranches operating under these difficult conditions.   To date we have recieved over $95,000 in contributions. Click here to see the list of donors.
